Welcome to How To Make Friends!

So why did I start this blog? Isn’t this common sense?

Well…

3 years ago, I moved to a new city. It was exciting: a new job, a fresh start, and a new adventure. But over time, I began to realize how difficult it was to make real friends.

Between working remotely, not being in school, and knowing virtually no one, I felt stuck socially. Sure, I met people at bars, on the street, or through casual interactions, but none of those connections turned into meaningful or close friendships.

I went from being someone with tons of friends in my hometown to spending my first Christmas and New Year’s Eve in my new city alone.

Boy, did that suck.

Eventually, I decided to approach friendship with intention. Instead of just chasing more interactions, I focused on building better ones- prioritizing quality over quantity. Over time, that shift changed everything. Today, I have several close friends I genuinely consider my second family.

Along the way, I noticed something else: I wasn’t alone in this struggle.
It wasn’t just young professionals new to a city. Locals, students, graduates, people of all ages- many were quietly asking the same question I had been asking myself:

“How do I make friends?”

That’s what How To Make Friends is about.

This site exists to share practical, genuine advice and tools based on real experience- what worked for me, what didn’t, and what can help you build meaningful friendships too.

Thanks for being here. I’m glad you’re along for the ride.

Cheers,
Ry
